6 Things You Can’t Leave Home Without
Travel can be stressful and unpredictable. Why not make it as easy as possible where you can? Even if you are the most seasoned traveler, I’m sure you look for ways to simplify the travel process to your destination hassle-free.
There are many accessories to help you achieve travel bliss and I have put together a list of my top six MUST HAVES. I have a feeling you won’t want to leave home without them either!

RECHARGEABLE Book Light
With a great book light, you not only get to read your favorite book no matter the lighting conditions, but you will score major bonus points with the person next to you on the train or the airplane. You will be able to enjoy your reading without blinding the people near you.
Aside from the obvious, book lights let you navigate in the dark without compromising safety. This comes in handy when in unfamiliar hotel rooms when you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom so you don’t stub your toe. We’ve all been there!
This slim, rechargeable Mighty Bright is fantastic and affordable at under $30.
Portable Humidifier
Hotel air is stale and dry. It makes your throat scratchy and can irritate allergies. It dries out your skin, your eyes, your mouth. It feels awful to wake up for a fun, filled day and feel like you’re fighting a cold.
Enter your new best friend, a portable humidifier. There are many great options that will fit right in your carry-on. This one from Pure Enrichment turns a plain bottle of water into a fine mist humidifier. How cool is that?!
Portable Charger
There is a unique panic that accompanies an almost-dead phone battery. Maybe you forgot to charge your phone the night before or you can’t find an outlet at the airport. You don’t want to be left with a dead phone when you need to get an Uber or pass the time on a long line at a theme park with a game of Heads Up.
A portable charger will ease your anxieties! Small and powerful, these can easily slip into your purse or backpack, and some are even housed inside a phone case.
I’ve tried a few different options and the Mophie Powerstation is by far my favorite. It is slim, lightweight and can charge up to 3 devices at a time! Once you get one, you’ll wonder what you ever did without them.
Lightweight Tripod
When I go on vacation, I take hundreds of photos and end up only being in a handful myself. Seems to be a common problem among moms, am I right? Even if I am in a photo, it’s rare that my entire family makes it in one without having to awkwardly ask a stranger for help. No thanks!
Enter the tripod. No, you don’t need to be a “content creator” to get a tripod. This is an indispensable tool to help you capture those memorable moments. The GripTight PRO 2 GorillaPod by Joby is a great option. It is super lightweight and the flexible stand wraps around and grips to all kinds of surfaces allowing you to take great shots with great stability. Then you just fold it up and put it in your bag and keep exploring.
Electronics Accessory Organizer
Cables, cables and more cables! It’s one of the few annoyances of the technological world we live in. When traveling, my bag was always bursting with so many cables that it was impossible to find what I needed without taking the giant ball out. Then I found an electronics accessory organizer.
You will save so much time and mess when you travel with all of your cables together in one handy place. This organizer from BUBM is only 1 inch thick and can easily hold up to a dozen cables along with some of your other tech gadgets.
Laundry Detergent
Being a chronic over-packer, I am always looking for ways to cut back on what I bring with me when I travel. This can be difficult especially if you’re traveling for a longer period of time or to a hot theme park where you’ll be sweating through your clothes daily. I know all about that one!
I recently found these eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets from Lazy Coconuts that are fantastic! They take up virtually no room in your suitcase and easily dissolve in your hotel room sink so you can wash your clothes. This is particularly great for smaller items like undergarments and socks. Plus, they aren’t liquid so you can put them in your carry-on bag without worry!
There is something so satisfying about finding the PERFECT travel tool that makes your life a million times easier. These six are a great place to start!
I would love to hear what you can’t leave home without when you travel. Send me a note and let me know!
Happy Travels!
